Founder of MLC

Jelena Helen T. Colak, the creator of mylanguagecoach.net, is a one-to-one coach, English business communication skills trainer and creative teaching material writer. In her almost 20-year career as a professional English teacher, she has worked with many well-known national and international companies. She currently runs her own MLC team of professional teachers, incorporating her teaching methodology and training her English team to obtain the best results with their English language students.

I was born into a family of literature. My father, a well-known Balkan literary critic, university professor and writer, whose books entered many university curricula worldwide, a man of few but always extraordinarily impacting words on his students, family, and friends; and my mother, greatly loved high-school language and literature teacher, the person who has been endlessly influencing me since I was born, bestowed on me the love for literature, language, and, above all, people of the world. I am grateful to them especially today, in the era of high economic crises, emotionally devastating failures, and presence of dangerously powerful egotism among people for having taught me to give love through teaching, to have understanding for human weaknesses and failures, and to embrace all challenges of learning. I decided to start teaching when I was 18. To feel the experience. To challenge the teaching potential in me, to taste the beauty of passing on the information and to observe it grow in others. The result was obvious. I eternally fell in love with teaching. In my professional experience, I was lucky to have worked as, needless to say, a teacher, a school manager, a journalist, a TV and radio presenter, a Spanish Red Cross translator and Interpreter, a university professor, and, of course, a dreamer whose dream came true: to have my own language school LINKS&LYNX. It took time and effort, a lot of sacrifice, understanding, loss of friends… but then, the people I´ve met on the way have made me grow and develop into an exhaustive examiner of our human learning potential. These people are my students in the first place, my friends.
